On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Object. In the Object dialog box, click the Create from File tab. Click Browse, and select the file you want to insert. If you want to insert an icon into the spreadsheet instead of show the contents of the file, select the Display as icon check box. To insert an Excel worksheet as a table in Word: Open a Word document. Place the cursor where you want to insert the Excel worksheet. Go to the Insert tab, then select Table. Change Normal PDF to Fillable PDF. The created normal PDF file will be opened in PDFelement directly, and you can add the fillable fields manually by clicking the 'Form' menu and click 'Add Text Field,' 'Add Check box,' or other buttons according to your needs to make it as an interactive form. It will lead you to Word Options dialog, under Choose commands, click drop-down button to select All Commands. Now scroll-down to find Excel Spreadsheet command and click Add to show it in Quick Access toolbar. Hit OK to continue. Now in document, place the insert cursor where you want to insert spreadsheet. If you want to break, update or change links to Excel charts or worksheets in Microsoft Word, you'll need to use the Edit Links to Files command. Unfortunately, this command is difficult to find. To make it easier to access, you can add Edit Links to Files to the Quick Access Toolbar. If you decide that you want to break links to external Excel files, be sure to make a copy of the file first.

Thanks for the question, Dana. See below for the details. I assumed you are using Windows, but just in case, i have added some pointers for MAC users below.

Embed an Excel table in Word

Note: This option will allow you to embed a screenshot of your spreadsheet, which you won’t be able to later on edit/modify. For a “live” spreadsheet option, kindly scroll down.

  • Open your Excel document.
  • Select the area / range that you would like to add into Word, right click and hit Copy or press CTRL+C.
  • Now, go ahead and open the Word document in which you would like to insert the Excel range, then right click and hit paste or go ahead and press CTRL+V.

Embed a “live” spreadsheet in Word

  • Open your Word document, where your Excel spreadsheet has to be placed.
  • Click on the Insert in the ribbon and select Object in the Text section.
  • Select the Create from file and browse to your excel document which has to be inserted.
  • Click OK.

Insert Excel file as an attachment

In a similar fashion you can embed a link to your Excel file into your Word document:

  • Navigate to the place in your document that you want to place the link to your workbook.
  • Hit Insert.
  • Then select Object.
  • Using the Browse button , navigate and point to the file stored in your computer that you would like to attach.
  • Then hit the Link to File and Display as Icon checkboxes, to embed a link to your file into your doc.
  • Hit OK.

Edit an inserted Excel range in Word

  • In your Word document, double click on the Excel table you inserted before.
  • Adjust the range height and width to fit your table into your Word page and edit the content as needed.

Adding other files into Word

So far, we have learnt how to embed Excel workbooks and ranges into Microsoft Word. That said, you are able add additional file types into your document, such as: Presentations, diagrams and another documents. Read further for ta simple example: Font editors for mac.

  • Open your Word document.
  • In the Ribbon, hit the Insert tab and select Object.
  • In the Create New option, pick the required Object type to embed into your Word document.
  • In our case, we’ll go ahead and insert a PowerPoint presentation.
  • Once, you select the object you would like to insert, hit OK.
  • Now we can edit with the new presentation slide embedded in Word 2016.

Inserting spreadsheets in Word for macOS

If you are using Word fin your MAC, you can insert existing spreadsheets into your documents as well. Procedure is similar to the one we outlined before for Windows.

  1. Open Microsoft Word and navigate to your document.
  2. Pick the location into which you would like to add your spreadsheet content.
  3. Hit Insert, and select Object.
  4. The following dialog will be opened:
  1. Hit From file… and select the Excel workbook that has the content you would like to embed.
  2. Hit Insert.
  3. Now go ahead and adjust the placement, height and weight of your embedded worksheet.
  4. Once done, save your spreadsheet (File>>Save or Command + S).

Note that on Word for MAC OSX you are not able to embed “live” PowerPoint Presentations ; however you can embed other documents into your Word files.

How to convert Excel file to a Word document?

In some cases, you may want to convert the excel file to a word document, but there is not a convertor that can help you to directly solve this task. Now I will tell you some convenient tricks to convert excel worksheet to word document.

Convert excel to word by copy and paste

The most direct and easiest way is to copy the worksheet contents in Excel, then paste them in the Word document.

1. Open the Excel worksheet you need, and select the contents range you need to convert to Word document, if you need to convert the whole worksheet, press Ctrl + A to quickly select it, then press Ctrl + C to copy it.

2. Open a blank Word document, and place the cursor at the document and right click to open the context menu, then select the paste type you need under Paste Options section. See screenshot:

Note: You just can copy one selection at once time.

Convert excel to word by insert as object

If you want to quickly convert a whole Excel worksheet to Word document without opening Excel, you can insert the excel worksheet as an object in Word.

Notes: Crack for teamviewer mac.

(1) By inserting as object, you only can insert an entire worksheet at once time.

(2) It will insert the last active worksheet when Excel workbook is closed as the object.

1. Open Word document, and click Insert > Object. See screenshot:

2. Then in the Object dialog, under Create from File tab, then click Browse to select the workbook you need to insert its worksheet from the Browse dialog.

Note: Please close the workbook before inserting it as an object in Microsoft Word.

3. Click Insert > OK to finish the operation. Now the last active worksheet in the selected workbook has been inserted as an object in the Word document.

Tip: You can edit and format the object as you need by right click at the object and select the option you need from the context menu.
